    • 1). Download and install a free registry cleaner program such as CCleaner (see Resources).

    • 2). Launch your program after it has installed and click the "Registry" button on the left panel.

    • 3). Place a check on all the options under "Registry Integrity" and click "Scan for issues." CCleaner will scan the registry for left over entries for uninstalled programs, damaged ActiveX files that cause errors on web browsers and missing DLL files vital for launching programs.

    • 4). Click "Fix selected issues" when the scan is complete. Click "Yes" to backup the registry before proceeding with the cleaning.

    • 5). Click "Fix all selected issues" when the backup is complete and click "Yes" to clean the registry. CCleaner removes and repairs entries that cause system problems.

    • 6). Close your program when the process is complete. Run CCleaner at least once a week especially if you frequently download files from the Internet.
