    Krylon Fusion Paint

    • Try Krylon Fusion spray paint if you have plastic or vinyl mini blinds that you need to update or change the color to match your decor. This paint was first made for plastic patio furniture, but was found to work on many other metal or plastic surfaces. About 16 colors are offered in this spray paint. The paint is safe for children and does not peel or fade. Krylon Fusion paint also is inexpensive, costing between $5 and $10 for a 12-oz. can, depending on the retailer. It dries in about 15 minutes. The paint does not require any sanding or priming prior to applying on a plastic surface.

Painting Plastic Blinds with Krylon Fusion

    • Remove the plastic blinds from the window and thoroughly clean with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Take all the slats and valance out of the blinds. Place the blinds on newspapers or plastic to protect the area and paint in a well-ventilated space. Wipe down the blinds with a standard paint thinner so the paint will adhere to the blinds better. Lightly coat the blinds with the spray paint; you may have to apply a second coat. Let each coat dry, which should only take about 15 minutes. When thoroughly dry, replace the slats and put the blinds back on the wall.

    Considerations

    • Make sure the blinds are completely clean and dry before you begin painting them or the paint will not adhere well. Apply the paint evenly to avoid drips. Try using a sponge brush to spread the paint around if the spray can is too messy. You may only need to paint one side of the blinds, because the other side is usually unfinished and faces out.
