How to Figure a Linear Yard

    • 1). Measure the object or line that you want to know the linear yardage of using your tape measure. Measure the object for inches first. For example, lets say the measurement is 48 inches.

    • 2). Divide your measurement in inches by 12 to find out the measurement in feet. Our example measurement of 48 inches is the same as 4 feet.

    • 3). Divide the the measurement in feet by 3 to figure the linear yardage. Our example measurement of 4 feet is the same as 1 and 1/3 linear yards.
