How to Construct a Pterodactyl Out of Milk Jugs
- 1). Draw the wing pattern of a pterodactyl on a milk jug, so that the milk jug handle is the dinosaur's neck. Draw a rectangle on each side of the handle about 2 inches by 3 inches.
- 2). Cut out the wing pattern, being sure not to cut where the top of the wings meets the neck. The rectangles should be only connected to the wings by 1/4 of an inch at the neck.
- 3). Fold the rectangular piece under the body and roll it up. Use a hot glue gun to secure it in place. This allows a child to put their finger into it and hold the pterodactyl to play with it.
- 4). Draw the head on the second milk jug. The handle is the beak, so draw the head between the neck of the jug and the handle. Cut out carefully, leaving an opening between the top of the beak (which is the top of the handle) and the bottom of the beak (which is the bottom of the handle.) Use hot glue to secure to the body of the pterodactyl.
- 5). Sandpaper the jugs so that paint will adhere better. Paint the pterodactyl. If you want, use pipe cleaners for the claws.
