Jacuzzi Tub Cleaning Tips

    Surface Cleaning

    • The surface of many Jacuzzi tubs is acrylic and can be scratched. As such, it is important to only clean the surface with soft soaps and cloths. Check the label of any cleaning products to make sure they are safe for acrylics. Some cleaners may need to soak into the surface before being washed or wiped off. Scrubbing the acrylic surface could scratch or damage the tub.

    Cleaning the Jets

    • The jets in a Jacuzzi should be cleaned before each use. To clean the jets before use, fill the Jacuzzi until the jets are covered by a few inches of water. Run the jets for ten minutes to flush any stagnant water from the pipes, then drain the tub and refill.

The surface of the jets can be cleaned with a cotton swab or ball dipped in bleach. This only needs to be done weekly or when a visible buildup appears on the jets.

    Deep Cleaning

    • If you want to do a deeper cleaning on the tub, there are a number of commercial products available that will flush and sanitize the jets and plumbing. However, if you would like to use household cleaners, a mixture of bleach and powdered dishwasher soap can be used. To make the cleaner, mix a tablespoon of powdered dishwasher detergent with a cup of bleach. Fill the tub and pour in the cleaning mixture. Run the tub for 15 minutes, drain and refill with fresh water. Run the jets with fresh water for ten minutes to flush out the cleaning solution. In some cases, simply dropping an automatic dishwasher tablet into a running Jacuzzi may have acceptable results.
