How Can I Stop an Unresponsive Script on Firefox?
- 1). Click the "Stop Script" button if Firefox displays a "Warning: Unresponsive Script" dialog. This halts the unresponsive script and restores your ability to use the browser. To lower the 20-second delay before displaying this dialog, continue.
- 2). Click the address bar at the top of the Firefox window. Type "about:config" and press "Enter."
- 3). Click the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button.
- 4). Type "max_script" in the "Filter" field at the top of the window. You should now see an item under "Preference Name" with the label "dom.max_script_run_time." Double-click this item.
- 5). Enter a number in the "Enter Integer Value" dialog box to signify the number of seconds that Firefox should wait to prompt you to close unresponsive scripts. For example, to have Firefox wait 10 seconds, enter the number "10" in the dialog box.
- 6). Click "OK."
