How to Tether in Photography
- 1). Attach a digital camera to a tripod.
- 2). Arrange the shooting area. Set up all lights and light the subject to your satisfaction. You may shift the position of the camera slightly during a shoot, but the USB camera cable will limit your range.
- 3). Connect the camera end of a USB camera cable to the USB output on the digital camera.
- 4). Insert the USB end of the USB camera cable into a free USB port on a computer.
- 5). Launch the camera control software of your choice. Most digital cameras come with camera software, or you may use third-party camera software.
- 6). Select your camera from the "Source" menu in the camera control software.
- 7). Shoot a few exposures and allow some time for the images to transfer to the computer before you review the images.
- 8). Shoot the subject and take frequent breaks to check the images on the tethered computer.
