How to Make Soy Wax Candle Melts
- 1). Add soy wax flakes to a microwave-safe glass jar. Place the jar in the microwave on high for three minutes. Remove the soy wax once it completely melts.
- 2). Allow the soy candle wax and jar to cool for 10 minutes. Place a candy thermometer in the wax. The candle wax needs to drop to 160 degrees before you continue to make the soy wax melts.
- 3). Place a few drops of essential oil or fragrance in the candle wax. Mix the wax with a stirring stick.
- 4). Add candle wax coloring (available at craft and candle stores), or food coloring after adding the fragrance. Mix the candle wax with a stirring stick until the color is completely blended.
- 5). Let the wax cool to 110 degrees. Begin pouring the soy wax into the candle molds. Lay newspaper around your work area to prevent spilling the wax.
- 6). Remove the wax melts from the molds once the wax beings to harden. Either squeeze the mold or place it in the freezer for a few minutes if the melt appears stuck.
- 7). Allow the candles to cure for at least 48 hours before burning. The curing process allows the essential oil or fragrance to envelop in the candle wax.
