How to Remove Candle Wax From Shirts
- 1). Scrape away the hardened wax from the shirt with a dull knife.
- 2). Place the stained section of fabric between paper towels. Press the back of the shirt with a warm iron, changing the paper towels as they soak up the stain.
- 3). Clean the stain with a commercial fabric stain remover. Test the stain remover on an inconspicuous area of the shirt to ensure that it will not damage the fabric.
- 4). Rinse the stain remover off with water. Apply laundry detergent directly to the stain.
- 5). Place the shirt in the washing machine. Launder the shirt with a color-safe bleach product in warm water.
- 6). Remove the shirt from the washing machine. If the stain remains, sponge the stain with two parts water and one part rubbing alcohol. Rinse the stain with water.
- 7). Launder the shirt again. If the stain appears stubborn, continue to blot the stain with a commercial cleaner. Hang the shirt to dry instead of placing it in the dryer. The heat from the dryer will cause the stain to become permanent.
