Step-by-Step Instructions on How to Draw Cool Skulls
- 1). Obtain a picture of a skull. You can find many images on the Internet, or you can check your CD collection. If you are a fan of heavy metal music, at least a few of your albums should contain artwork that includes skulls. Use one of these as a guide.
- 2). Draw a basic outline of a skull on a fresh piece of paper in a sketch pad. Use a pencil with an eraser so you can easily erase any mistakes. Draw eye sockets in slightly up-slanted almond shapes about one-third down, a nasal opening in the shape of a rounded triangle where the nose would be -- about 3/4 inches below -- and the jaw, which you can make rounded or squarish.
- 3). Draw details on your skull drawing to make it look cooler. Skulls frequently feature crossbones behind them, or have scary-looking eyes or sharp teeth. You can even give your skull a pirate look by drawing a patch over one of the eye holes.
- 4). Add in a background, such as a pentagram or flames. Use colored pencils to add a touch of color if you want. Red and black are colors that are frequently used in art that includes skulls.
