How to Clean a Kel-Tec PF-9
- 1). Remove the magazine from the pistol's grip and rack back the slide action to ensure there are no live rounds in the firing chamber.
- 2). Disassemble the pistol. If you are unsure of the disassembly procedure, consult the appropriate page in the manual (see References).
- 3). Attach your bore brush to the cleaning rod, then dip the brush in the gun solvent.
- 4). Scrub the barrel bore and chamber with your bore brush to dislodge any encrusted powder residue.
- 5). Remove the brush from the cleaning rod and attach the cleaning jag, then clip a cloth swatch to the jag and dip it in the cleaning solvent.
- 6). Wipe the areas you just brushed down with the cloth swatch to remove any lingering residue, then remove the damp patch and attach a clean dry patch to your jag.
- 7). Wipe down all the areas again with your dry swatch. Continue wiping the areas down, discarding the swatch as necessary, until the swatch comes back clean and dry.
- 8). Dip your toothbrush in solvent, then scrub down all exposed metal surfaces in the pistol slide. Do the same for all exposed metal surfaces on the pistol frame. Pay special attention to the area around the muzzle breech, the extractor and the hammer.
- 9). Apply a small amount of solvent to your clean cloth and lightly wipe down the exterior of the pistol.
- 10
Remove all traces of solvent from the gun with a clean cloth, then apply a small amount of oil to a clean portion of the cloth and lightly wipe down all external surfaces. - 11
