    • 1). Spray soap scum remover onto the tiled surface and grout and allow it to stand on the surface until the soapy film begins to break up. Scrub the scum off with a soft scrub pad, and then rinse the surface clean with water. Use a non-acidic soap scum remover when cleaning stone tiles, otherwise you may cause etching.

    • 2). Spray a heavy-duty grout cleaner onto the grout lines, and allow it to sit in place without allowing it to dry for the length of time recommended by the cleaner manufacturer. Use a grout brush in a back-and-forth motion across the grout to remove the dirt from the grout surface. Rinse with clean water.

    • 3). Mix a chlorine bleach solution consisting of a mixture of 1 part chlorine bleach to 5 parts water. Open the windows and doors to the room to increase ventilation. Apply the solution to mildewed areas with a sponge; allow it to sit for about five minutes, then scrub the mildew off the grout with the grout brush. Rinse clean with water.

    • 4). Spray a pH-neutral cleanser on the tiles, and wait 3 minutes for the cleanser to penetrate the dirt. Scrub with a soft scrub pad until clean, then rinse the cleanser from the tile with clean water.

    • 5). Use the grout cleaner to clean the caulking along the edges of the tile surface.
