    • 1). Wash all of the mold and fruit matter off the seeds and leave them out to dry overnight.

    • 2). Prepare a 6-inch pot with a drainage hole for each seed, to give the plant room to take root and grow. Fill each pot with a mixture of 1 part organic compost to 1 part potting or starter soil. This mixture gives the seeds good moisture and nutrition in a loose, quick-draining soil.

    • 3). Plant one seed per pot, 1/2 inch deep, and place the pots in areas with full natural or artificial lighting and temperatures of 65 to 70 degrees F. Although the seeds don't need light to germinate, the air is warmer in these areas and the seedlings will need sun when they sprout.

    • 4). Water the pots to lightly moisten the soil, then cover each pot with plastic wrap to hold in warmth and moisture. Water the pots with 2 inches of water when the soil begins to dry out, but never allow the soil to become muddy. Keep it lightly and evenly moist.
