From Full Time Employee to Home Based Entrepreneur - Making the Transition After Quitting Your Job

Making the transition from full time employee to home based entrepreneur is easier for some than for others.
It doesn't seem to matter how long you have worked at your job.
More important is your attitude and the amount of preparation you make for changing the way you spend your time each day.
You can practice what this will be like while you are still working.
Before you quit your job spend a full day on Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday performing the tasks you will be doing in your home business.
Make a schedule for yourself so you will have a better idea of how much you can accomplish in a specific amount of time.
Take a close look at how much time you spend commuting to and from your present job.
My commut time was about three hours each day, so when I began working from home I started off with a bonus of 15 hours a week.
Instead of just forgetting about that time, I made a list of the specific goals I could accomplish in fifteen hours each week.
That made a huge difference in my business.
Make it clear to your family and friends that you will be working on certain days and specific hours on those days.
This will help to avoid hurt feelings and misunderstandings when someone drops by unexpectedly and wants to go out for a two hour lunch when you are scheduled to be working at home.
Stay organized and make a strict schedule for yourself.
You are transitioning from a job that required good work habits, so be willing to do the same for your home business.
This is an opportunity to change your life in many ways - health, financial, quality of life - so set up the guidelines from the very beginning and you will be off to a fantastic start.
