How to Polish a Pelican Case
- 1). Get a damp cloth and wipe the outer plastic surface of the Pelican case. This will remove fine dust particles and larger dirt settled on it.
- 2). Open the Pressure Equalization Valve. This is done by twisting the knob of the valve to the left. This releases the air pressure inside the Pelican case.
- 3). Lift open the double-throw latches on the case.
- 4). Make a vinegar solution by adding one part vinegar to three part water. This will make a cleaning solution.Clean the latches and hinges with this vinegar solution. This will remove grease and dirt lodged in those places.
- 5). Run an alcohol cleaning wipe through the inside of the Pelican case to clean the foam and sterilize it.Remove the foam inserts and wipe the floor and sides of the case with the cleaning wipe.
- 6). Run a small, fine brush against hard-to-reach nooks inside the case and the hinges. This will remove dirt from such places.
- 7). Lubricate the O-ring on the Pelican case. The O-ring makes the case water-tight and even though it is resistant to water and a broad selection of chemical agents, it needs to be regularly oiled to preserve its integrity.
