How to Paint the Inside of Cabinets
- 1). Remove the cabinet doors. Remove any hinges.
- 2). Wipe the interior of the cabinet with a soapy sponge. Remove any dirt, mold or mildew. Dry the interior with a clean towel.
- 3). Dip a paintbrush in primer. If there is wallpaper inside your cabinets, use a latex primer. Otherwise, use a water-based paint primer. Apply this primer to every nook and cranny of the interior. Allow it to dry for about three hours.
- 4). Clean your paintbrush with water. Dip the paintbrush in the paint you wish to use for the interior. Paint the cabinet, starting with the corners. Allow the corners to dry slightly. Paint the remaining portion of the cabinet, from top to bottom, using a long right to left stroke. Paint the trim last. This will prevent runs in the paint.
Allow the paint to dry for about three hours. Apply a second coat of paint and allow it to dry overnight. - 5). Replace the cabinet doors.
