How to Connect Two TiVos

    Wireless Network

    • 1). Set up the encryption on your wireless network to support WEP encryption. Attach a wireless network adapter to each TiVo box with a USB cable.

    • 2). Start one of the TiVo boxes and open the "TiVo Central" menu. Use your remote to select the "Messages & Settings" option, open "Settings" and select "Network & Phone." Open the "Phone Connection" folder and select "Change phone or network settings." Edit the wireless network settings and create a new network. Give the network a name and connect.

    • 3). Select "Yes" if you have set up WEP encryption. Enter the password and use the same password on both TiVo boxes.

    • 4). Pick a wireless channel between one and eleven. Both boxes use the same channel.

    • 5). Open the "IP Address" menu and make sure "Let the TiVo box assign itself an IP Address" is selected. Do not enter a DHCP Client ID.

    • 6). Start the second TiVo box and enter the same network settings you used on the first TiVo.

    Without Network

    • 1). Enable transfers on each TiVo box and update the software to version 9.1 or newer.

    • 2). Attach an Ethernet adapter to each of the TiVo boxes at the USB ports. Connect a crossover Ethernet cable to the Ethernet adapter on one TiVo, and connect the other end of the crossover cable to other TiVo's Ethernet adapter.

    • 3). Verify that you can access one TiVo from the other. If the connection is working, you can see the "Now Playing" information from one TiVo on the other TiVo.
