How to Install Software in Windows XP
- 1). Turn on your computer and allow Windows to load normally.
- 2). Open the computer's CD drive and insert the program's install CD into the drive.
- 3). Close the CD drive. Most install CDs will auto-start an install program at this point. If an auto-install window does not appear, double-click the "my computer" icon on your desktop, then double-click the CD drive that contains the installation CD. Find and double-click the "setup.exe" file to start the installation process.
- 4). Follow the on-screen instructions as they appear. You will likely be asked to specify where you want to install the program to on your hard drive, and may also be asked what type of installation--full, typical, minimum, or custom--you wish to make. Unless you are sure of what you want, you should always choose "standard" or "typical" install.
