How to Customize a Task Bar

      Add a toolbar to the task bar. Right click any blank area of the task bar and point to "Toolbars." Click on the toolbar you want to add.

      Lock a task bar to keep it from being resized or moved. To lock it, right click a blank area of the task bar and click on "Lock the Taskbar."

      Resize a task bar. Make sure it is not locked first, and then place the mouse cursor along the top border of the task bar. When the cursor changes to a double arrow, click and drag the border to the desired size.

      Hide the task bar. This is helpful if you are using an application that works best using the entire screen. Right click a blank area of the task bar and select "Properties." On the "Taskbar" tab, select "Auto-hide the Taskbar." Click "Apply" to save these changes.

      Move the task bar. Make sure it is not locked, and then place the mouse cursor on a blank area of the task bar. Click the left mouse button and drag it to the side of the screen where you want it and drop it.

      Add shortcuts to programs to the task bar. Right click the task bar, select "Properties," and make sure "Show Quick Launch" is selected. Right click the program icon from the desktop or "All Programs." Hold the mouse button down, and drag the icon to the "Quick Launch" toolbar area of the task bar, which is to the right of the start button.
