    • 1). Wipe the steam wands with a damp cloth to remove scorched milk. Unscrew and remove the threaded wand tips. Scrape out the tips with a straightened paper clip; then rinse them well and reinstall.

    • 2). Mix hot water and commercial espresso machine cleaner -- such as Cafiza, PuroCaf, or JoeGlo -- in a small bucket. Follow the directions to mix the correct parts of water and cleaner.

    • 3). Remove the group handle. Use the tip of a screwdriver to remove the filter basket. Rinse the filter basket with warm water. Wash with a scouring pad and dish detergent, if needed. Put the filter basket in the cleaning solution and allow it to soak overnight.

    • 4). Place a filter inside the group handle and put 1/2 tsp. commercial espresso cleaner into the filter. Put the group handle into the group head. Press and hold the manual override switch for three seconds to flush with water. Repeat 8 to 10 times.

    • 5). Turn the machine off and open the steam wands to relieve the pressure. Allow them to remain open overnight.

    • 6). Remove the group handle and remove the filter. Clean the basket end of the group handle with a scouring pad and warm water. Submerge the basket end in the cleaning solution and allow it to soak overnight. Do not place the plastic handle in the solution.

    • 7). Unscrew the small screw in the bottom of the group head: This secures the shower screen and brass plate. Remove the screen and plate and scrub with the scouring pad. Place the screen and plate in the cleaning solution and allow them to soak overnight.

    • 8). Remove the grate on the drip tray. Pull the drip tray out and empty it. Clean them both with a damp cloth and mild soap. Rinse well and dry completely, then replace.

    • 9). Clean the outside of the machine with paper towels and window cleaner.

    • 10

Turn the machine on in the morning, and allow it to heat up. Close the steam wands when you hear a hissing noise. Rinse the parts that were soaked overnight with water and drain them on paper towels.

Replace the screen and brass plate by reinserting the screw and tightening it. Replace the filter basket with the group handle. The machine is now clean and ready for use.
