    • 1). Insert your Windows XP installation disc into your computer's optical drive and restart the computer.

    • 2). Press the listed key to enter the system setup utility when the manufacturer splash screen is showing. You will need to act quickly, as you will only have a couple of seconds to press the button. The specific key may differ from system to system, but it is most often an "F" key or the "Esc" key.

    • 3). Use the instructions printed on the BIOS utility screen to navigate to the boot menu. This menu will list all bootable devices and allow you to place them in the order you want.

    • 4). Move the CD/DVD drive to the top of your boot device list before exiting the setup utility and saving your changes. Your computer will now restart.

    • 5). Press a key on the keyboard when prompted to "Press any key to boot from CD..." This prompt will appear after the manufacturer splash screen clears. Again, you will only have a couple of seconds to respond to this prompt. The computer will now boot with the Windows XP installation disc.
