How to Use a Rip Saw
- 1). Lay the poplar on the feed table. Stand behind the rip saw between the feed table and the rip saw table. Pull the leading edge of the poplar onto the rip saw table. Adjust the top roller height to 1 inch by turning the large knob on the top of the feeder housing clockwise to raise the feed, counterclockwise to lower the feed in the direction needed.
- 2). Reach underneath the fence of the rip saw and loosen the large knob on the front of the saw. Turn the large wheel below the knob clockwise to raise the blade, counterclockwise to lower. Raise the blade to approximately1 3/4 inch above the rip saw table.
- 3). Turn on the laser mounted above the feed roller. Look behind down the length of the board. There will be a red laser line running the length of the poplar board, the line represents where the blade will cut the board.
- 4). Pull or push the board sideways watching where the line will cut along the board. For a straight line cut, adjust the laser line to the board so that it has a clean cut along the outside of the board, taking note of any knots, cracks etc. When the line and the board have coordinated with where the board will be cut, lock the fence down like you would on any table saw.
- 5). Pull the board back slightly, out of the way of the rollers, and turn on the saw. Holding the board with both hands, slide it into the feed rollers. Feed rollers from the top and bottom will automatically grab the board, when this happens let go of the board. It will automatically be fed through the rip saw.
- 6). Wait until the board goes through the saw and comes out the other end on to the receiving table. Pick up the board and walk it back to the feed table, flip the board upside down so that the raw edge is now facing the fence. Adjust the fence to the desired measurement and slide the leading edge of the lumber into the feed rollers, and let go of the board.
