How to Create a Symantec Bootable CD for Windows XP
- 1). Download the Norton Bootable Recovery Tool directly from the Symantec website. You will need to click on the yellow "Download Norton Bootable Recovery Tool" button on the top right side of the Web page.
- 2). Click "Save File" when the dialog box appears on your screen. Run the downloaded program file after your system has successfully downloaded it. Another dialog box may appear asking if you would like to run the program, click the "Yes" button to begin the program wizard.
- 3). Insert a blank CD or DVD into your CD/DVD burner. If a dialog box pops up asking you what you wish to do with the blank media, simply exit and follow the instruction prompts on the Norton Bootable Recovery Tool. Choose the "Create on CD/DVD media" option to begin the recovery CD/DVD creation.
- 4). Eject the CD/DVD from the computer and store it in a safe place. Use the recovery disc if there ever comes a time when your computer is infected by malware that will not allow you to use the regular Norton Antivirus program installed on your computer.
