  You don't have to be an expert gardener to grow vegetables. There are many types that don't require much maintenance after they are planted. Plant vegetables in your yard or in containers so that you have fresh vegetables all season long. Easy-to-grow vegetables do need water to live, so if your area isn't getting much rainfall, you may need to water them.
  
  

Tomatoes

• Tomatoes are easy-to-grow vegetables because they can be grown in most types of soils and most climates. They may not thrive in the coldest climates. Small tomato plants can be purchased at many home and garden stores and should be planted after the last frost. Plant tomatoes in the ground or in a container. There are many different types of tomatoes, from small cherry tomatoes to large beefsteak tomatoes.
  
  

Leaf Lettuce

• Leaf lettuces are easier to grow than head lettuces, such as iceberg. Some leaf lettuce varieties include romaine, bibb and butter lettuce. • Green beans are a good vegetable to grow because each plant produces a large number of beans. These plants should be grown in the warm weather. Plant the seeds in rows, in well-drained, fertile soil. The easiest green bean plants to grow are the bush varieties because they don't require support. Pole beans grow on a vine and need a fence or trellis to climb.
  
  

Radishes

• If you want a vegetable that is easy to grow and produces results quickly, the radish is a good option. Radishes should be planted in the early spring or late fall, as they prefer cool weather. Plant radish seeds in rows, in loose, well-drained soil. You will have radishes ready to be picked and eaten in four to five weeks.
  
  

Beets

• Beets are easy vegetables to grow because they can be planted anytime throughout the spring and summer. Plant beet seeds about a half-inch deep in the soil and place them 10 to 12 inches apart. Beets grow best in loose soil. Harvest your beets about 8 to 10 weeks after planting because if they get too big, they will be tough.
  
  

Zucchini

• Zucchini grows best in warm seasons, so plant them in the late spring to early summer. Plant zucchini seeds in soil mounds and place the plants about 2 1/2 feet apart so that they have space to grow. This vegetable grows best in rich, organic soil. Harvest the zucchini when they are 6 to 8 inches long.
