How to Create Magnetic Chalkboard Paint
- 1). Apply two to three coats of magnetic primer to the surface you want to use as a magnetic chalkboard. Let dry completely.
- 2). Use the ratio of one cup of paint to two tablespoons of unsanded tile grout. Mix small amounts for small areas, such as a tray or door panel. Mix very well, making sure there are no lumps.
- 3). Apply one layer of the mixture to the dry, primed surface. When it has dried completely, gently sand the surface with 150-grit sandpaper. Repeat this process two more times, so there are three smooth layers.
- 4). When the surface is completely dry, rub the entire surface with the side of a piece of chalk. Then wipe the surface with a damp sponge. This will condition the chalkboard and make it ready for use.
