Martial arts schools are popular in the Philippines, especially for children and teens. A number of schools involve both local and foreign martial arts systems, including the Filipino kali, Japanese aikido and Chinese kung fu. Martial arts schools are at their busiest during school vacation from March to May, when students enroll in sports and arts courses. Adults also enroll in schools of martial arts, particularly if they have a new-found interest in sports and self-defense skills, or at least want to be physically fit. - Rapido Realismo Kali is a local advocate of Filipino martial arts amid the many popular foreign martial arts systems in the Philippines. With branches in various areas of the country, the school provides training courses in native Filipino martial arts, including kali, sikaran and bunuan. It also offers the Basic Instructor Certification Course to prospective instructors.
Rapido Realismo Kali aims to utilize the human body's natural reaction to aggression as starting point for self-defense skills. The training method emphasizes self-preservation techniques needed in emergency situations. It teaches hand-to-hand combat, weapon-based systems, boxing techniques and self-defense stances.

kaap-karate.weebly.com - Located in Metro Manila, the diverse and busy commercial area of Quezon City, Kiryukan Dojo is a popular aikido school for students of all ages. From young practitioners to mature aikido enthusiasts, this dojo, or training school, provides year-round lessons and training in specific skills. All lessons incorporate the Japanese martial arts training of aikido, a form of self-defense practiced to strengthen mind, body, and spirit.
The dojo is affiliated with the Hidaka Dojo led by Kenji Kumagai Shihan (7th dan) in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. The two dojos conduct an exchange program to deepen the Filipinos' level of technical expertise with this Japanese martial art. Kumagai also holds a seminar in Manila each year, and the senior black belts in Kiryukan have the opportunity to undergo intensive training in Japan. Kumagai suggested the name Kiryukan, which means "house where ki flows" in Japanese.
