How to Make a Soy Candle at Home
- 1). Clean a jar with water, inside and outside. Let the jar dry thoroughly.
- 2). Glue the wick onto the inside bottom of the dry jar. Dab a small amount of super glue onto the bottom of the wick's metal mount and press it against the glass for one minute.
- 3). Melt 2 cups of soy wax flakes in the microwave in a microwave-safe container. This should take about five minutes.
- 4). Check the soy flakes after five minutes to make sure they have melted completely.
- 5). Put the melted flakes into a measuring cup. You should have 15 fluid oz. of liquid soy flakes. If not, add more flakes to the cup until you reach 15 oz.
- 6). Add 1 oz. of fragrance oil to the wax flakes and mix until the oil disappears into the wax.
- 7). Pour the fragrance wax into the jar until it reaches the top of the jar.
- 8). Center the wick into the middle of the wax and let the wax set until it hardens. Trim the wick to a moderate length above the wax with scissors.
