Trees, Flowers, and Plants of Alabama
- The state tree of Alabama is the longleaf pine. It is a long, thin pine tree that is native to the southeastern United States. The state flower is the camellia. These flowers originated in eastern and southern Asia, but can now be found in the United States, as well.
- In addition to the longleaf pine, Alabama is home to a large quantity of cypress, hickory, oak and Eastern red cedar trees. The southwestern region of the state is home to large forests of southern white cedar trees.
- Alabama is home to approximately 150 types of shrub, chief among them being the rhododendron and the mountain laurel. One of the main cultivated plants is the wisteria.
