How to Crochet a Bell Ornament
- 1). Make three chain stitches and join them together with a slip stitch to form a circle. Chain one and make five single crochet stitches inside the circle, then join with a slip stitch to close the round.
- 2). Chain one and make two single crochets in every stitch around; join with a slip stitch. Chain one and make two single crochets in the first stitch of the next round, followed by one single crochet in the following stitch; repeat this pattern around for a total of 15 single crochet stitches, then join with a slip stitch.
- 3). Chain one and make one single crochet in every stitch around, then join with a slip stitch. Repeat this for four more rounds to make the sides of the bell.
- 4). Chain one and make two single crochets in every stitch around to make the bottom of the bell, then join with a slip stitch. Chain one and make one single crochet in every stitch around; cut your working yarn with scissors, leaving a 4-inch tail. Make one final slip stitch and pull the tail all the way through the stitch to secure it.
- 5). Thread one of your loose yarn tails onto an embroidery needle. Use the needle to weave the tail in and out of the stitches on the inside of the ornament. Repeat this with the other yarn tail.
- 6). Cut a length of yarn that is 10 inches long. Thread this onto an embroidery needle, and then string a jingle bell onto it. Remove the needle temporarily and pull on the yarn ends so that the bell is centered on the yarn.
- 7). Hold the two yarn ends together and tie a knot approximately a half-inch above the position of the bell so the bell hangs down in a loop of yarn. Thread both tails through your embroidery needle and use it to draw the yarn tails up through the center of the bell onto the top of the ornament (the bell should now hang inside the ornament). Remove the needle and tie a knot in the very ends of the yarn for hanging the ornament.
