How to Replace the Door Switch on a Dodge Vehicle
- 1). Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
- 2). Disconnect the ground cable from the negative battery terminal by loosening the retaining bolt and pulling the clamp off the terminal.
- 3). Locate the door lock switch housing on your vehicle's door. On most Dodge vehicles it will be a small plastic panel that fits into the upholstered interior panel.
- 4). Remove any visible screws securing the switch housing to the door panel, using a Phillips screwdriver.
- 5). Using a flat-head screwdriver, carefully pry the door lock switch housing from the interior panel.
- 6). Using you hand pull the electrical connector off the back of the door lock switch.
- 7). Remove any clips or screws securing the switch to the housing, using a Phillips screwdriver or needle-nose pliers. Then remove the switch from the housing.
- 1). Slide the new switch into position in the housing and reinstall any screws or clips that retain it.
- 2). Reinstall the plastic electrical connector, by pressing it onto the back of the switch. Be careful not to bend any of the metal contacts.
- 3). Slide the switch housing into the door panel, and reinstall any screws that retain it.
- 4). Reconnect the ground cable onto the negative battery terminal by sliding the clamp over the terminal and tightening the retaining bolt.
- 5). Test the new switch for proper operation.
