    • Not only can a poncho protect you from wind and rain, it also can protect your belongings. You can wrap sensitive items in a poncho to keep them rainproof, or you can cut the poncho open to form a large sheet that can be positioned over the top of an item or area to form a makeshift umbrella.

    Windbreaker

    • Most people associate ponchos almost exclusively with rain protection, but ponchos are very useful for blocking wind as well. By wrapping a poncho around the outside of your clothing on a windy day, you can keep yourself warmer and prevent cold air from seeping through the fabric of your clothes.

    Theme Park Protection

    • Ponchos can be very useful at amusement parks. They can help keep you and your possessions dry while on water rides, and they can be useful while waiting in line for a ride on a rainy or windy day. Many amusement parks sell ponchos, but they likely are much more expensive than taking your own to the park with you. You can rent lockers inexpensively at theme parks, and so you can store your poncho in a locker until it is needed instead of carrying it with you all day.

    Sporting Event Protection

    • Ponchos are also very useful at sporting events. The weather can sometimes change rapidly over the course of a four-hour game, and it is always a good idea to be prepared for cooler weather, rain or wind. A poncho can help you focus on enjoying the event instead of shivering against the cold. Some arenas sell ponchos, but much like amusement parks, it is probably less expensive to buy your own ahead of time and take it into the stadium with you.
