How to Speak Simple French
- 1). Learn the pronunciation of French letters, the use of accents and whole words using a language-aid book or Internet site.
- 2). Learn the six questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How? These will be useful when traveling or holding a simple conversation.
- 3). Practice the conjugation of the verbs "avoir" -- to have -- and "etre" -- to be -- with the pronouns I, you, he, she, we, you -- plural or formal, and they -- feminine and masculine versions. These are the most common verbs used in conversation.
- 4). Plan your trip or possible discussion topics to figure out which words and names you will need to know in French. Castle, museum, restroom, restaurant, the weather, hungry and thirsty are all words you are likely to use in either situation.
- 5). Consult your French-phrase book or site to see how to organize sentences using your questions, verbs, pronouns and the vocabulary you have learned.
- 6). Practice speaking the language with a friend or by following an audio or visual resource in French.
