    • 1). Determine which direction you want to install laminate in a mobile home. If you have a long hallway, you might find it's easier to run the grain so it is parallel with the walls in your hallway.

    • 2). Vacuum your floor to remove any dust or debris so you have a clean surface when you install the laminate flooring.

    • 3). Lay foam padding over the entire surface of the floor where you will install laminate. The foam provides sound insulation for your flooring and cushion between the laminate wood and the subfloor in your mobile home. Use scissors to cut the foam padding to size and seal any seams with duct tape.

    • 4). Lay the first laminate wood plank in your mobile home. With the grooved end toward the wall, lay the plank down on the foam padding. Insert the tongue on the first plank into the groove in the second plank. Snap the plank down to the floor. Repeat this process for each plank across the floor.

    • 5). Leave a 5/16-inch gap between your laminate flooring and the wall. The laminate floors expand and contract as temperatures go up and down. This gap, concealed by wood trim, allows your floors to expand and contract throughout the seasons without damaging the flooring itself.

    • 6). Use a jigsaw to cut the last row of planks to size.

    • 7). Nail wood trim to the wall to cover the gap so it looks like the laminate flooring runs seamlessly from one end of your mobile home to the other.
