How to Repair Brakes on a 1993 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Wagon
- 1). Park the Caprice on a hard and flat surface.
- 2). Loosen the lug nuts on both front tires using the tire iron.
- 3). Lift the front of the Caprice using the floor jack at the front cross member of the frame.
- 4). Place a jack stand behind each wheel well under the frame, and lower the front of the car onto the stands. Place wheel blocks behind the rear wheels.
- 5). Remove the lug nuts and then both front tires.
- 1). Remove the bolts on the back of the brake assembly using the ratchet and socket set.
- 2). Pull the brake assembly away from the center of the axle and off the brake rotor.
- 3). Tap on the back of the brake pads using the handle of the ratchet to remove the pads from the brake assembly.
- 4). Set the new brake pads in the brake assembly, and press them against the brake caliper using your thumbs.
- 5). Set the brake assembly over the brake rotor then insert and tighten the bolts using the ratchet and sockets.
- 1). Replace the brake pads on the other side of the Caprice.
- 2). Set the tires on the axles then evenly tighten on the lug nuts using a star pattern.
- 3). Lift the front of the car using the floor jack, and remove the jack stands before lowering the car to the ground.
- 4). Tighten the lug nuts on both front wheels using the tire iron.
