Instructions on Replacing a Starter on a 1996 Chrysler Concord
- 1). Disconnect the negative battery terminal using a wrench. Place the wheel chocks behind the rear tires.
- 2). Raise the car using the automobile jack and place the jack stand under the frame of the car close to the jacking point. Raise the jack stand up to the frame.
- 3). Remove the wires from the starter by loosening the nut with a wrench. Unplug the wiring harness from the solenoid.
- 4). Remove the three bolts from the starter using a socket and ratchet. Pull the starter away from the engine.
- 5). Put the new starter in place and tighten the bolts with a socket and ratchet. Reconnect the wires and tighten the nut with a wrench. Plug the wiring harness back into the starter. Remove the jack stand from under the car and lower the car back to the ground.
- 6). Reconnect the negative battery terminal and start the car to test the new starter.
