DirecTV Converter Box

• 1). Unplug the DirecTV converter box from the power outlet before disconnecting it from the TV or satellite dish. Once unplugged, disconnect the receiver from the television and the satellite dish by removing all of the input cables from the back of the device.
  
  
• 2). Remove the access card from the DirecTV receiver. DirecTV does not allow an access card activated on one customer's account to be used by another customer. Before donating the converter box, remove and discard the access card. The card is usually located behind a small flap on the front corner of the DirecTV receiver.
  
  
• 3). Call a local charity near your home in Minnesota to make sure the organization will accept your donated DirecTV receiver. If you are not familiar with local charities in your town, ask a friend or neighbor for a referral or look in your Minnesota phone book.
  
  

DTV Analog-to-Digital Converter Box

• 1). Unplug the DTV converter box from the wall before disconnecting the other cables. Once unplugged, disconnect the converter box from the television and the antenna cable.
  
  
• 2). Call a local charity near your home in Minnesota to make sure the organization will accept your donated DTV converter box. If you don't know of any charities in your town, ask a friend or neighbor for a referral or look in your phone book.
  
  
• 3). Instruct the person receiving the DTV converter box that it must be connected to a digital outdoor antenna. A standard antenna will not pick up digital television signals and the converter box will not operate properly unless it is connected to a digital antenna.
