Do you feel that being overweight stressing out your body? Is it making you feel too pooped to take on your day? Have a game plan is the best way to overcome.
As a father of two young kids, having my weight under control definitely helps my energy plus I want to lead a long, healthy life as I grow older and wiser.
Here are a few of my daily strategies to help with my energy through food and fitness: - Map My Day.
I get up an hour before my kids and map my day including my meals I plan to eat as part of my tasks list.
I have a "To Do Schedule" not a list.
Also add a "Want To Do" and "Celebrate" list - cleaning my drawer - cause for basketball shooting fun.
- Plate Portion.
345 are a magic number.
Have 300 calories for breakfast, 400 for lunch, 500 for dinner, and add two 150-calorie mini-meals or snacks.
Fill your plate with veggies and fruits like salad, chopped cantaloupe or apples.
Always have a lean protein with your meal such as skinless chicken breast, low fat peanut butter, egg whites and tofu.
- Maximize Movement.
A couple of times a week you should hit the iron.
It could be your own body weight not necessarily having to you equipment like dumbbells.
You can alternate a circuit with using squats and pushups.
Do 15 of each and do as much as you can in 5 minutes with minimal rest.
Just enough to catch your breath.
Count how many rounds you can do within those 5 minutes.
You can even do this by the treadmill and implement it.
Let's say, you do 15 push up, 15 squats and 2 minutes on the treadmill at a brisk 5.
5 mph pace.
Hop off and repeat the circuit.
In time, you can lose and keep off that excess weight for good.
