How to Build a Sound Wall
- 1). Install all electrical wiring and plumbing before beginning to soundproof.
- 2). Apply fiberglass to walls as densely as possible to dampen the highest quantity of sound. This is the first layer of soundproofing material.
- 3). Fill the gaps between the ceiling joints with acoustic insulation.
- 4). Hang soundproof drywall over both the fiberglass and acoustic insulation. This will be the second layer.
- 5). Paint over the drywall with latex wall paint. This is the final layer of soundproofing.
- 1). Investigate the room and remove any drywall and insulation already present on both the walls and ceiling.
- 2). Fill the voids between the wall studs and ceiling joints with acoustic insulation.
- 3). Cover the acoustic insulation with soundproof drywall.
- 4). Paint the ceiling and wall drywall with latex acoustical ceiling and wall paint.
