How to Clean the MAF Sensor in a Tahoe
- 1). Place the Tahoe in "Park" and allow the Tahoe to sit for twenty minutes giving components enough time to cool down.
- 2). Open the hood of the Tahoe and locate the MAF sensor, which is found on the air intake side of the engine, located directly behind the air box. Refer to the Tahoe owner's manual for a diagram, if needed.
- 3). Unhook the wiring harness from the MAF and place it to the side. Remove the two screws holding the MAF sensor in place using a T-20 torx bit. Unhook the hose clamps that secure the MAF sensor down.
- 4). Gently pull the MAF sensor off of the mount, the sensor may require a little wiggling to remove it, but be sure to do so gently as to not damage the sensor.
- 5). Clean the MAF by spraying MAF housing cleaner onto the sensor. Be sure to spray cleaner on the screen and plug area as well. Wipe the sensor and intake tubing clean using a microfiber cloth.
- 6). Replace the MAF sensor on the engine intake by placing it back into place. Replace the screws and tighten using the T-20 torx bit. Clip the hose clamps back into place and reconnect the wiring harness. Close the hood of the vehicle.
