    Jack LeFlore Memorial Scholarships

    • The Winter Park, Florida, alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi sponsors the Jack LeFlore Memorial Scholarships. Located in the heart of Orlando, this chapter provided four $500 scholarships and three $1,000 scholarships for male African American high school seniors in 2011. Applicants have to submit a scholarship application, essay, a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or minister and high school transcripts.

    Hampton-Newport News Chapter Alumni Scholarship

    • Virginia's Hampton-Newport News Kappa Alpha Psi alumni chapter sponsors 10 scholarships, some awarded based on academic merit and others awarded based on financial need. Only male high school students are eligible for these scholarships. Students living in the Hampton, Newport News or Williamsburg area, attending a state Historically Black College or University and demonstrating a financial need are eligible for the Robert B. Suber Sr. Memorial Scholarship, worth $2,000. Students in that same area who have a record of academic excellence and desire to work in business can earn the William R. Walker Jr. Memorial Scholarship or Lucius C. Wyatt Scholarship, both worth $1,000 as of 2011.

    Hyattsville/Landover Alumni Chapter Scholarships

    • Maryland's Hyattsville/Landover alumni chapter sponsors scholarships for minority students living in Prince George's County, Maryland. Eligible students can be studying at the high school or undergraduate level. Applicants have to have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA). They must write a 500-word essay on the meaning of achievement to submit with their scholarship application. The application process also requires three letters of recommendation, transcripts, test scores and, in some cases, an interview.

    Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Scholarships

    • The Jacksonville, Florida, alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi offers merit-based scholarships to local students. The chapter selects scholarship winners based on academic achievement, character and leadership. They must complete two essays. In 2010 the questions asked students to write about the importance of education and the most urgent thing on their agenda if they were president. The chapter also considers financial need and the student's success in an in-person interview when awarding the scholarships.
