How do I Cook on a Kitchen Queen Woodburning Stove?

    • 1). Collect some heavy-duty cookware. Cast iron is excellent for cooking safely over a Kitchen Queen wood stove because it will conduct the heat evenly, preventing you from scorching your food. Thinner saute pans can't be left sitting with food cooking in them because they will get too hot. Copper-clad pots will also work well to diffuse the heat evenly over the bottom of the pot.

    • 2). Fill your pots with hot water from the reservoir during cooking instead of cold tap water. This step will save you a lot of time in cooking, because the Kitchen Queen stove has hot water always available.

    • 3). Scrape up spills immediately during cooking or your kitchen will be filled with smoke as the spill burns. Oil spills can be especially smoky. Keep a spatula handy for quick clean ups.

    • 4). Place your pan over the high heat area directly over the fire for fast cooking such as browning meat or frying foods. If the heat is cooking the food too fast, slide the pan to a cooler area on the stove, usually on the right side over the water heating reservoir. Foods that are finished must be removed from the cook surface or they will continue cooking.

    • 5). Bake any of your favorite recipes by utilizing the flues on the front of the fire box door to either raise or lower the oven temperature. High-temperature baked goods such as breads, potatoes, roasts and pastries will bake quickly with the flue open and the fire blazing. Cooler baked goods like custards, cakes and cookies will bake evenly with the flue almost shut and a slower fire burning.
