    • 1). Center the magnet on the head of the screw. When you pick up the screw, the magnet should come too--if it does not, you will need a different screw. Leave the screw so the point is sticking up.

    • 2). Hold one exposed end of the wire to the flat, negative end of the battery. If you have some electrical tape, it may help to tape the wire to the battery.

    • 3). Touch the positive end of the battery, the end with the knob, to the point of the screw. When you lift the battery, the screw should come up with it.

    • 4). Touch the other end of the wire to the magnet. You will notice the screw starting to spin rapidly. The device is now a motor.
