How to Troubleshoot a Toshiba 53H71 TV
- 1). Check that the power cord is secure in the outlet if the unit will not turn on. Test another appliance in the same power outlet to make sure it works. Replace the batteries in the remote control.
- 2). Check that all the cable and antenna connections are secure if there is no picture or the picture isn't clear.
- 3). Adjust the picture settings if the sound is fine but the picture is unclear. Press "Menu" then use the left and right arrows to navigate to the "Picture" menu and highlight the picture quality you wish to adjust, such as brightness, color or contrast. Press the up or down arrow to highlight "Save New Preference." Press the left or right arrow until the menu displays "Done."
- 4). Turn off the closed-captioning feature if a black box appears on the TV screen. Press "Menu," then use the left and right arrows to navigate to the "Custom" menu. Press the up or down arrow to highlight "CC." Use the left or right arrows to highlight "Off."
- 5). Switch to another channel if multiple images are on the screen or the picture is generally unclear.
- 6). Leave the TV on for a few hours if condensation has formed inside the unit.
