How to Remove and Change the Dash in a 1999 Jeep Wrangler
- 1). Park the Jeep Wrangler on a flat surface, and set the parking brake. Open the hood, and disconnect the negative battery cable.
- 2). Remove the knobs for the climate control settings by pulling them straight off. Remove the knobs for the radio by pulling them straight off.
- 3). Open the glove compartment. Remove the two screws in the back corners with a star screwdriver, and remove the glove compartment.
- 4). Remove the screws under the steering column with a star screwdriver. Remove the steering column cover by hand. Remove the screws from the top of the steering column with a star screwdriver. Disconnect the steering column adjuster.
- 5). Remove the dash retaining bolts in both foot wells and under the radio console using a socket wrench.
- 6). Pull forward on the dash until the electrical connections are nearly taut. Disconnect the electrical connections.
- 7). Pull out on the dash, and lift up at the same time to remove it from the Wrangler. This step will require at least two people. Remove the dash from the vehicle.
- 8). Place the new dash in front of the steering wheel. Lift it up and over, then settle it into place. Pull it out far enough to access the rear, then reconnect all of the electrical connections.
- 9). Push back on the dash until it becomes seated. Tighten the retaining bolts with a socket wrench.

Reassemble the dash in the reverse order of how you took it apart.
