Online Truck Auctions - Its Not Just Flatbeds
I was recently looking to replace my old Ford Transit, after many years of serious heavy lifting left it quite a state and in need of retirement, when a friend suggested I check out an online truck auction.
I had never purchased a truck online never mind at an online auction, so I was a bit apprehensive at first.
However, when I went to look at an online auction website I was pleasantly surprised.
The first thing that really impressed me was the variety.
There were so many different models available with a wide variety of prices and specs.
They also had tonnes of different types of vehicles, LCVs, HGV, trailers, commercial vans you name it.
This wasn't so surprising once I realised that they used a trusted list of sellers from all over the country to stock the auction.
Meaning I got more choice without having to do more searching.
Which brings me to my next point, searching.
The website was categorised by vehicle type which made it so much easier for me to search through all of the vehicles to find the perfect one for me to bid on.
I think I was pretty lucky with my experience really.
I was able to find the same model as my old van but a much newer version.
The site provided a variety of images and a detailed description of the car (mileage, registration, engine size - all of the important things).
Once I found this vehicle I had a quick look for similar vehicles that I could use as back ups in case this one got too expensive and I found too pretty decent alternatives (not as good, but not bad if I could get them for a lot less).
Finally, when it came time for the auction I didn't even get into a bidding war and was able to get my Ford Transit for £1000 less than I was expecting to pay.
After this experience I am fully converted and would definitely recommend online truck auctions to anyone wanting to either replace the old van or upgrade their entire commercial fleet.
As long as you use a trusted site that inspects their vehicles before they put them up for auction you won't have worry about whether you are buying a complete lemon.
