How to Find a Cheap Reliable Car

    • 1). Do not go to a used car lot to find a cheap car. You may find a good selection, but the price of these vehicles is going to be much higher than if you had bought that same car from an individual.

    • 2). Ask your family and friends if they have a car they can sell to you cheap. If they do not have one, ask them to keep their eyes and ears out for a cheap car that has low mileage. Toyota and Honda vehicles are great cars that are very reliable even ten years down the road.

    • 3). If you are good at working on cars, look into buying a vehicle that has a few problems with it and would be cheap and easy for you to fix. People will sell otherwise reliable cars because they don't want to fix a small problem. You could get thousands of dollars off what the price would be and it might only cost you a few hundred to fix.

    • 4). Look on Craigslist and in your local classifieds. You are likely to find someone who just wants to get rid of a vehicle and is willing to part with it cheap. Make sure to always offer a slightly lower price than they are asking, and never buy a vehicle without popping the hood. These tips will save you overpaying on a car.
