Pope Francis" Rhythm Demands a Cipher
He goes again, almost on cue, as if dancing to a specific rhythm, the Pope rocks the airwaves once again.
The worry, captured by the media, the inner tension mirrored on the faces of the seated cardinals almost palpable, as they could not hide the chagrin the scene makes of them in full glare of the whole world.
The faces bore despair and despondency.
The absence of the Pope at the concert organized to honor him was unfashionable, it violates the papal custom catching the well-mannered cardinals totally unawares.
More importantly, the photographic documentation of yet another Pope Francis shocker ruled the crest of the airwaves once again.
The rumblings are out, and speculators are already taking bets that these surprises by the Pope are not accidental, and that they probably follow a script.
From very early on, even from high school level, the Roman Catholic continues to fascinate me.
There is a scientific order in the way the church protocols are set up.
Yet, Rome is an epitome of traditions and established customs.
It is the primary source of many Christian rituals and methods.
History also confirms that dictators have a way of luring the political support of the unsuspecting weak and poor before turning round to unleash the true agenda.
They gradually and insidiously turn the acquired fame into accumulated political power and eventually assume unchallengeable might.
This line of thinking is beginning to emerge among papal observers since Pope Francis detoured to kiss the feet of prisoners.
Did he borrow this page from Jesus, or is it part of a grand scheme to create an identity or a new legacy? We need to remember that every cardinal has a chance to become a pope there is a chance that he may have used his waiting years to prepare a theme for a potential papacy.
Smart and ambitious, he must have realized that if the opportunity arises, the expectation is for actions immediately after the pronouncement; it is no more time for planning what to do.
In other words, are we witnessing the Francis I agenda? Irrespective of what is going on in the world, be it wars, riots, elections, crime or competitions, the Pope has a way of breaking the lull with a drama that brings Rome back on the front pages of the news headlines.
Almost on cue, every month, a tantrum bursts out of the papacy.
Is this timing due to chance, or is it a calculated public relations agenda from Rome? Every month, the Pope picks up a new pin: Francis the foot-washer, Friend of the poor, Francis the Exorcist, Francis the Evangelist, Francis the unpredictable, and others like these.
If not all these are happening by pure chance, what can be motive? Is the Pope expressing his anger at the protocols of the status quo, or is there a committed determination to change the customs and traditions of Rome to reflect modern realities associated with his election and the title of Francis of Assisi? These questions deserve a study to protect us from misinterpreting his surprise swings in the future.
It is not likely that the agenda will change; neither will the character of this charismatic pope.
Therefore, we need to be able to follow his footsteps in the new playbook properly.
Pope Francis I is altogether a great man.
Great men leave legacies.
If we a witnessing a bold attempt at re-organizing the traditions of Rome to create room for fresh ideas to permeate and probably germinate in the system, then it is welcoming.
On the contrary, I hope the world is not witnessing the landmarks of another devious dictator.
This is most unlikely since there is no military advantage for Roman Catholic Church in that concept.
