Life Cycle of the Hybrid Tea Rose
- The hybrid tea rose has a traditional rose shape, long stems and fragrant blossoms. They are the most easily recognizable rose. They were the first rose developed from deliberate cross breeding among several different rose bushes.
- Like all rose bushes, hybrid tea roses start as small rose bushes that have been grafted or cut from established rose bushes. They can be planted as closely as 3 to 4 feet from each other in warm areas, to grow in a close-knit hedge.
- Hybrid tea roses require close pruning, winter protection and good, balanced nutrition throughout their life cycle. If they're given this care, they are a very successful breed of rose.
- Hybrid tea roses, once mature, can reach anywhere from 3 to 5 feet in height. They grow taller in warmer climates. Hybrid tea rose bushes almost always live for more than 25 years, and can last for anywhere up to 40 years.
- Hybrid tea roses bloom in a wide variety of colors, including red, pink, purple and even blue.
