    Scented Pinecone Centerpiece

    • Collect an assortment of different size pine cones, either from the yard or from a craft shop, and clean away any debris with a small stiff paintbrush. Dab a small amount of glue on some of the scales of the pine cones, and sprinkle festive spices such as cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon on the glue. Shake off the excess spice and allow the glue to dry. Fill a woven basket half full with the scented pinecones, and insert small branches of pine greenery into the rest of the basket, ensuring that you fill any large spaces between the pine cones. Add some pieces of greenery with large and small berries attached to add color and texture to the centerpiece. For a finishing touch, attach a ribbon to the handle or the front of the basket with a small piece of floral wire.

    Festive Candle Centerpiece

    • Begin with a medium-size low container, and fill the center of it with floral foam. Push the bottom of a decorative candle down into the foam to secure it. Begin adding sprigs of greenery, such as pine, ivy or holly, around the candle. Using different varieties of greenery will add more texture to the arrangement. Use small Christmas picks with pinecones or berries to fill in gaps and add color. If you don't have any Christmas picks, you can use elements found in the yard. Add festive ribbons in various places around the centerpiece, ensuring that you place them in a balanced manner if the arrangement is to be viewed from more than one side. Do not light the candle while it is in the centerpiece as it could pose a fire hazard.

    Glittery Ornament Centerpiece

    • Arrange an assortment of glittery Christmas ornaments in a low, wide glass container. Choose ornaments that are in the same color family, such as various shades of gold, red or silver. For an unusual centerpiece, opt for ornaments that are not the standard Christmas colors. Fill the container with ornaments, and add a few sprigs of pine or holly greenery around the ornaments and around the bottom of the container for a finished look.

    Holiday Branches Centerpiece

    • Select an assortment of branches from the outdoors of varying sizes and shapes. Remove the leaves from the branches and spray paint each of them in shades of gold, silver and white. Allow the paint to dry completely before attempting to arrange them as the wet paint will make the branches stick together. Fill a tall glass vase about half full with colored marbles, choosing a color that coordinates with the rest of your room. Arrange the painted branches in the vase, creating a festive centerpiece.
