IE Browser Won't Allow an Add-on

    • 1). Delete your Internet Explorer 8 shortcut from your desktop. Right-click the shortcut, and select "Delete" from the pop-up menu.

    • 2). Copy the phrase "%programfiles%\internet explorer\iexplore.exe" into Notepad or Wordpad. Include the quotation marks as they are a key part of this phrase.

    • 3). Right-click on an empty space on your desktop where you would like the shortcut to be located. Select "New." Select "Shortcut."

    • 4). Highlight the phrase from Step 2 in your Notepad or Wordpad. Select "Copy." Right-click the field labeled "Type the location of the item" in the "Create Shortcut Wizard" and select "Paste." The phrase should now be shown in the field. Click "Next."

    • 5). Name your shortcut "Internet Explorer." Select "Finish."

    • 6). Double-click the new Internet Explorer shortcut on your desktop to verify that the add-on functionality has returned.
